I don't see it getting settled using that tactic. Normaly the govt files a tax lien against the property where taxes haven't been paid, but here they have been paid. The dude who paid them may have a claim against other heirs which will come out in settling the estate or perhaps an Action to Quiet Title. If its goes into an estate and theres a dispute all the parties can submit evidence of their contributions (such as taxes paid) and then the court will divide things up with credits to any who paid more then their fair share. Remember these opinions are offered mostly in the dark unsure of all the facts and local common and statutory law so don't anyone bet the farm here lol.
