Yea Randy, The conditions changed really quick, with some real nice weather, except for yesterday with fog and light rain, but a lot of the family farm is on limestone ledges and dries out quickly in the spring. We are very dependent on timely rains during the growing season for good crops. Alfalfa does well here because it is a deep routing crop and can penetrate into the seems of the rock to suck moisture from the pourous rock layers. We also have bad years when even the maple trees have a hard time finding moisture. We had lots of snow last winter, and limestone bedrock wicks moisture, and there are lots of little underground cavities which store water, but things can change quickly with this type of ground.
