: : : I have a Cub Cadet with 17 hp Kohler 2 cyl. As I shut it off I noticed it was loading up with fuel pretty bad. About 1/2 hour later when I tried to start it, it wouldn't turn over. Not a mechanical lock, but a hydraulic lock. I pulled the plugs and when I hit the starter to see how it would act, it shot a stream of gas out each cylinder. I assume that the float in the carb is hung up or has a hole in it, and the gas is gravity feeding into the engine. I'm going to look into it tomorrow. Has anyone had a similar experience with the Kohler twin? I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks, Mark R. : : Yes, I've had similar problems with dirt stuck in the needle valve. : Here's the best fix... Everytime you go to start it, take a small propane torch or your lighter and remove the sparkplugs and turn the engine over while placing the flame next to the holes. This loosens up the hyphenuphinating govenor whic backfires throught the carburator blowing any dirt particles out of the hole which causes a vaccum to build which pulls the carbon off your pistons and cleans your air filter all at once. For best results spray either in holes before cranking. And after your replace the spark plugs viola, you can now run alcohol with better power and get a tune up all at the same time... : It might be wise the hook the sparkplug wire to your belt buckle so they do not accidently ignite the excess oil build up from the leaky head bolts. Pyro, I don't know about the spark plug wire, But I know where you could hook a pair of jumper cables to...
