Manure is a by-product. Some hog producers are paying local farmers to inject manure on nearby farms to avoid hauling it long distances. Salt buildup can be a concern on poorer drained soils. Hog manure seems to have fewer weed seeds compared to the manure and bedding from beef and dairy operations. Maybe the finer grinding that destroys more weed seeds.
