Father Ludwig once told our class that swearing isn't what you say, but how you say it. I was golfing with a priest one day and I do not remember what he said, but I do remember the intensity that he said it with. I did not say anything to him about it. I am sure that people think that fricken is acceptable because it isn't the other f word, but everyone understands what their intentions were though. So did they swear? I say they did.
There is a joke about a woman being willing to go to his hotel room for a large amount of money. When he tells her he only has a few dollars, she says "what type of woman do you think I am?" And he replies we have already determine that, we are now just haggling over the price.
Each of us gets to decide who or what we are going to be in this life. And still be respectful of other peoples right to be who they want to be.
