I did a similar repair on an 8 foot bobcat snow bucket Monday. It had been used exclusively on asphalt, so they not only wore through the back corners, but thinned down the bracing straps below the connection loops to the point where the 1/2 inch steel strap was down to 1/4 inch, and the welds were ground off causing the bucket skin to crack. My customer wanted it fast and dirty, so i drilled the ends of each crack in the 3/16 skin, and welded it with a copper plate behind it. I grooved out and re-welded the straps and then added another 1/2 inch strap overlay for the 8 inch long contact sections. On the corners I welded on some 10x10x1/2 mild steel plate. 3 hours and good to go, with no guarantees.
