I have my club's snowmobile trail groomer tractor in the shop for some repairs and maintenance. One repair that is needed is to weld back together one ear of the top link mount for the front blade. The pin pulled the bottom two thirds of the hole right off on one side. The mount is part of the frame so it can't be removed. I will V it out to where there is about 1/8th of an inch left. It is about 7/16 thick. The problem is that the two plates are only about 5/4 of an inch apart so if I do it with my Lincoln 225 tombstone I am concerned that I will be at too steep an angle with the surface with my rod, once I get away from the front, to get good penetration. I will be able to get about 2/3 from the top and will go underneath to get the bottom. I was thinking that I could probably keep a better angle on it with my Lincoln 110 MIG. Thoughts or advice?
