My brother in law's wife had lung cancer went the whole doc treatment route and only last like 6 months or so ? before she passed. Right after that brother in law had an xray that showed a similar situation on him. No way was he going to go thru what his wife did and he had 2 teens at home to raise. He would not even let them biopsy it. Well he is still around at least 13 + years later. You can tell he is sick but he is still going. He would be the first to tell you if he did what the doc's wanted he would of been gone a long time ago ! Cancer is too big of a money making business for them to really source out a cure for it. Kevin Trudo (sp?) is not a total crack pot as I think he raises some valid points.
I do hope your wife can beat the odds and stick around a lot longer too.
