I like to keep the wood floors(chains as well) of mine coated well with used oil, make sure the wear strips on the floor is in good shape, I also recommend when loading not to drop the poo into the spreader hard as this can pack it and cause you issues, do not leave the spreader loaded either, I have seen people load a small amount once every few days then a week or more later try to unload it and that can break chains,
