Here they have a noxious weed board that operates during the summer months in Spokane County. Part-time workers drive around looking for fields that have not been controlled and will send out a notice. Mowing or spraying is an acceptable means of control, I think spraying is well over $100 an acre from private sprayers. If the weed board hires them most will up the rate, the weed board assesses various fees and surcharges and last I heard it comes up to around $500 an acre for a small field. The bill is tacked onto the property taxes. Since I can mow most fields for $30-35 an acre I get a lot of work from noxious weeds. I'm one of the few that won't raise rates when I find out it is work imposed by the weed board...and find a lot of customers are afraid to say they got a letter from the weed board just for this very reason. Most have enough problems already without getting screwed over by a provider.
