I have never had a clutch stick myself, but conventional wisdom is that the disc rusts to the flywheel because of humidity and because there is some steel in the disc. I have not heard of them sticking due to grease and gunk on the splines. It is said that if they get stuck once they are most likely to stick again due to the rust that formed on the flywheel. I expect that the best way to reduce the likelihood of it sticking again is to slip the clutch some to clean it, and then block the pedal down when parking it so that the disc is not in contact with the flywheel.
