I had one several years ago,it worked well. There are two drive settings with your sprocket set up. A slow and a fast. Be sure you are set up on the slow setting. This allows you to open your meter more and thus you have to move your population setting more to achieve your desired rate. This makes it not as touchy when you adjust it. As far as choosing your rate I always figured my pounds needed by the seeds per acre I wanted, divided by the seeds per pound to get the pounds per acre needed. Then just followed the chart insider the drill lid to see where the drill needed to be set for that many pounds. It usually came out pretty close. Hope this helps.
