Are the panels actually metal or are they plastic/fiberglass?? IF they are plastic/fiberglass then the color is actually part of the product and painting is not a good option. You say that the finish has faded over time when it has been stored in side. That is not normal but have you waxed or used any other protective products on the finish?? These type of products will help keep the shine and color. There are products out there that will sometimes restore the shine on the plastic/fiberglass. We will need more information as to what you have to really recommend what to use.
