I have gone to a single 12 volt battery on a couple of older tractors that used to run two sixes in series. Less hassle with dirty cable ends , less expense. Even the old JD AR with a single 12 volt cranks over just fine to start. The Super 90 Massey needs a little pre heating with the coolant heater if it gets down near freezing but I run it all winter for cattle feeding and the single 12 volt battery never fails to start it. I use a big 12 on it.
