We have had them for as long as I can remember, just like when I was a kid and watched one of the first TVs on the market at a neighbor's house watching the big central rivers in the US flood. Just watching that made an impression on me and I swore I would live on high ground and I do. Interesting thing about this monsoon is that we are coming off a 3-5 year drought depending on where you are and people got careless.
Course I blame the insurance companies, lending institutions, and local zoning commissions. Uppety folks just have to have their house right on a creek with trees and all that goodie stuff and are the first ones to cry foul when the big floods come and they watch their gold mine floating away.....just like the people who build on the ocean or Gulf of Mexico. There will be flooding and there will be storms and if you think not you have your head in the stars.
