I have good luck controlling cheat by harrowing early, it has a very shallow root and very easy to kill when it is young, a heavy chain harrow works well as it flexes and gets more on uneven surfaces, this only works when it is first growing not after it is headed, you can mow it if its headed but if it gets moisture it will grow right back and head very quick, they was working on some sprays for it, really have not heard much either way on how it works in pasture, might check with your local weed and pest they may have other options for your area
