I have a 4 star Kuhn. When I run over new mown hay, I run in 6th gear about 1400 rpm. The centrifical force of the wet hay spreads it out pretty good. Then I tedd a 2nd time, when the hay is about 25%. Now I run in 7th gear and at a slow 900 rpm. The tedder actually gathers it up and piles it taller, almost like a rotary rake. I do use a NH rake before baling, which always picks up any missed wet stuff.
