Stephen Newell said: (quoted from post at 15:05:42 06/13/15) Really...... , I live in Texas and I haven't heard a thing. They are big on passing laws and keeping the laws a secret. A while back they passed a law stating you had to have safety chains on your trainer and I had an old trailer that was built before the law went into effect. The way I found out about the safety chain law is when I was getting a ticket.
I expect that they have been inspecting heavier trailers for a long time. I believe that if the trailer is heavy enough to make the combination likely to be over 26,000 inspection is required. I can't say what the break point is but my dual tandem gooseneck has required inspection for years.
Hey George, if you happen to be there to catch me making my one mistake of the year on Dec. 31 I suppose that will make me a stupid person.
