Clearly the management looked at which product lines were actually profitable and decided they could make more money focusing on heavy equipment. Remember that a dealership only makes a portion of its profits on sales; parts and service have a big profit margin. If you're going to service consumer and ag equipment it takes away from shop space and parts inventory that could be used for the heavy stuff.
Let's also note that the construction business has come back with a vengeance. Those companies that made it through the recession haven't bought new equipment for eight years. They're getting busy and they need fresh machines NOW. And even if they're not buying new stuff, they're fixing up broken-down machines they've had sitting in the yard since 2009, or buying and fixing used machines. Meanwhile, agriculture is cooling off due to low prices. It could be your local dealership decided to strike while the iron is hot.
