But where are we going to stop? Some people want to ban Nascar because it draws mega crowds to watch cars go around in a circle. They think that's dumb and they think of all the resources used in getting all those people there and the pollution that causes. And pro football and baseball aren't much different in terms of resources used and pollution in getting people to and from tha games. Should we forget building stadiums and just televise it? Some people like to jump on a jumbo jet and go to Las Vegas and whizz away their money. I'm sure jumbo jets use a lot of fuel getting them there and back. For what? Some people drive two hours each way to work every day. That is a lot of pollution and a lot of resources used. Some people haul their big boat around so they can catch a couple of puny fish. Is that ok? Some people keep their thermostats set at 72 degrees in the winter. Should we force them to keep it at 68? If I keep mine set at 65 all winter can I splurge and idle my pickup in the summer? Who gets to decide what is dumb and what is not? Who gets to decide the resource allocation for us all? I don't have all the answers. I don't have any anwsers. But I agree with JD that we just can't pass a new law for every one of our pet peeves and we can't pass laws to prevent dumbness.
