NCWayne- I too, do not want to this thread deleted. I would like to hear others opinions about this but suffice it to say...this thread will go poof.
NCWayne- I really liked your last sentence ".Rather than stating that the true tragedy in the situation was that those folks that are dead would still be alive if they had the same, armed protection she has to 'make her feel safe'. In other words she's a hypocrite of the highest degree...". That is very true!
I have kept re-reading your post and I agree with all of it but, I keep asking myself, where is the solution? So, we keep everyone armed to defend ourselves from the crazie. I all I can picture is a shoot-out like in the old west.
Myself, I enjoy guns and have a good selection. Do I know people that have guns that I feel should not own them. Answer= Yes. But, I don't feel it is up to me to decide who is capable to own a weapon or not.
Therefore, I feel there needs to be a more thorough background investigation for people wanting to own guns.
Furthermore, If the criminals, psychopaths, crazies, etc. want a gun...they will find one. It's nice to think someone in the audience is carrying.
I really don't know what the solution could be. There are so many variables. Although, I feel that vetting the mentally disturbed and felons from the list is a good start.
