Actually the first Ford was a Model A, but not the one you're thinking about. They started with a Model A in 1903, by 1908 they went from "A" all the way to "T" but some of the model letters were used on prototypes that never made it into production. Some believe that the A was such a radical departure from the previous cars that Henry wanted to start all over again. They then made the Model "T" from 1908 until 1927. Interesting note the 1903 Model A was mostly made by The Dodge Brothers, Ford bought the frame and running gear from the Dodges, the body from somewhere else and the wheels and tires, their "assembly plant" mated the body to the chassis and installed the wheels. Also remember that Ford made a Model "B" just after the Model "A" it had an improved 4 cylinder engine derived from the Model "A" engine installed in the same basic body that Ford used for their 1932 V-8 models, they were known as the "Ford V-8" but the official nomenclature was Model 18. They also briefly made a Model "C" which was the 1933 Body with a further improved 4 cylinder engine (counterbalanced crank) known as the Model 40 if in the V-8 trim.
This also started the road to Ford becoming the sole stock holder. Ford gave the Dodge Brothers stock to set up their machine shop to produce components for the Ford Motor Company. Once Ford Motor started making money Henry wanted to reinvest profits from Ford Motor Company to build plants to produce components, some of the same components that the Dodge Brothers were supplying. Of course the Dodge Brothers would rather have the dividends on their Ford stock and continue to sell parts to Ford from their factories. When the dust cleared Henry gave the Dodge Boys a lot of money to go away, so much money that they started their own Automobile company.

Today's Featured Article - Talk of the Town: How to Remove a Broken Bolt - by Staff. Another neat discussion from the Tractor Talk Discussion Forum. The discussion started out with the following post: "I have an aluminum steering gear housing with a bolt broken off in it. The bolt is about a 3/8" x 1 1/2" bolt. I've already drilled the center of the bolt out with about 7/64" drill bit the entire length of the bolt. Only one end of the bolt is visible. I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
