Nick, depending on what you want to do, you should maybe look at things the way I do.
Right now, I own no land, and only have access to 5 acres (plus the 1 at home, but too small to count)
If you think of what I have, compared to the amount of "farming" I do, I am WAY over sized! 16 tractors, plows, discs, harrows, you name it, I have 2 or 3.
When I came across that swather I just bought it, even though I don't at all need it, it was a good buy, on a good machine, that can and will help me make my future. IF you can get a jump on your future by getting this workhorse at a reasonable price, and even get a nice collector tractor out of it at the same time, GO FOR IT!
You can always sell it if you want, maybe for more than you buy it for...
I am on the hunt for more modern stuff now. Buying and selling OLD stuff, and using the money to get "bigger and better". Looking at a Ford 5000 diesel tractor tomorrow, what a dream it would be to own that! Just keep climbing, thats the only way we will ever make it to the top! ;)

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
