: : I bought an old Cadet (15+ yrs old), 12-hp with hydrostatic drive. Great little tractor, mostly used to mow 3 hilly acres. However, when you head uphill you have to move the drive lever so far forward to maintain any kind of speed, that when you turn to go downhill it's like riding a racehorse. I understand that this type of drive does have this tendency, but this seems to be far, far worse than usual. Two mechanics have been unable to improve this. Is there an adjustment, or is something wrong here? Also, I got no manuals or instructions with the tractor. I've given up on getting anything from the local dealer after one whole summer of trying -- is there some source for at least basic instructions and minor repair/maintenance on old Cub Cadets? I have a yard full of attachments (rake, blade, vacuum, tiller, etc) and no clue as to how to install them. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! : I would check the dampener springs and control cams in the hydro : lever linkage. This can all be viewed and repaired by removing : the top cover in front of the seat. I would bet that your linkage : is worn which is replaceable. : Good luck, : Bill It sound like you may have a worn pump. If you would still like to order manuals (operators, service, parts) they are still available. We are a Cub Cadet Dealer and would be glad to help you.Our number is (210)684-5296.
