Greg, To the North of us we are bordered by County Forest, but, to the South of us is a access road for the other property owners below us. We are also the highest in elevation around the lake, so any air sound (fireworks) travels right at us, as we have had bottle rockets land in our yard, you can smell the powder from the fireworks when we step outside on the deck. Not more than 6 miles away, there is a town that puts on fireworks show every year,so if they want to see fireworks it is the place to go.
If it was just one neighbor, but it usually isn't, we get bombarded all around from the south east and west, each trying to out do the other. It's just a problem that continues from the 3rd of July, and every weekend almost with some jerk blowing up the air,for nothing, most from out of state, who if you asked them why they bought here, their answer is " I love the peace and quiet." Something they disturb each time they show up. If it isn't 4 wheeling donuts in the road, our driveway, so when it rains, the grader comes out and pushes more gravel off the sides of the road(another rant) in his attempt to fix the road.
Some years back, a land owner in Stone Lake had the gall to open his land up for a Rock Festival. The patrons were urinating in peoples yards along with throwing their alcohol containers. The idiots were sleeping in canvas pup tents their kids looked like they never had a bath, and the stench of marijuana permeated the whole area. People from that sleepy little town had enough and placed an injunction on the land owner. I could hear the racket from the drummers and guitars 9 miles away at my house. People were bathing (nude)in swamp holes and 3 gals were skinny dipping in the lake when I drove up to the house. It was a regular 3 ring circus, lawsuits prevailed, town ordinance put a stop to that. I can't say I was sorry. My question is how many people would enjoy having that in their front yard, because someone wanted to have a rock festival? Just wondering. LOU

While this may have been the bread and butter of the belt work in the past (since this is what made the money on many farms), the smaller tasks may have been and still can be its real claim to fame.
