Is the 175 more of a D-17 style driveline??? I have ran those and they where not too bad with the tall lever where you can control things easier. There are not many AC 175s around here. More AC 180/185 and 190/200 here.
I ran a neighbors XT190 a lot. They had a better HI/Lo setup than the 180/185.
A funny thing the neighbor had two of the XT190s. One had "independent PTO" You could turn it on and off while moving but still had to use the Hi-LO shifter to stop while still powering the PTO. Never could really tell what is was very useful for.
The 301 AC motor was not near as good as your Perkins. They just needed more attention at fewer hours then most of the JD or IH.
