Do this to check ign. sys.
1 Remove dist. cap.
2 Remove coil wire at dist. cap end.
3 Turn engine until points are open.
4 Turn on ign. switch.(do not start engine)
5 Hold coil 1/4" from engine block(or metal)
6 Use small screwdriver to bridge points.(touch both contacts at the same time)
7 Each time you remove the screwdriver you should get a spark from the coil wire.
8 If you do clean or replace points.
