If you're really that upset and can spare a few bucks sue the thief, go after lost wages, cost of recovery and legal fees. About all you'll get is a judgement but with that you can make the thief and the Sheriff's department where he lives miserable, about the 2nd or 3rd time they have to go out there to seize assets to fulfill your judgement they might decide it would be easier to charge him & lock him up. With some diligence you can raid bank accounts and tax refunds. Don't think about it as recovering your losses, think about it as a hobby.
