The lever on the left is the pto "seasonal" disconnect. Pull it up with the tractor shut off to engage. Pull the big lever on the right to start and stop the pto when using it. I like to leave the big lever forward (pto on) and disconnect down (off) when not in use because leaving the big lever back puts pressure on the crankshaft and wears the front thrust bearing on the engine...AC had an external thrust bearing fix for this, but that is a whole nuther topic.
