: I have a seal leaking around the pto shaft on my Ford 2000 diesel tractor. I'm thinking of changing it and I've never done it before. Can someone tell me what i'm getting into,is it a tough job or should I have it done. Don't know what to expec : t! If the Ford is like the Ferguson it's a snap, a real piece of cake. (famous last words) There may be a keeper ring bolted on to the rear of the transfer case where the pto shaft comes out. This keeper is what holds the seal in on the Massey. Remove the bolts that hold the seal keeper then remove the keeper. Now all you shuld have to do is pull the pto shaft streight back and out. the rest should be obvious as the seal and bearing just slide right off the end. When pulling the shaft out, it will appear not to want to budge, if you have a hole or a groove in the shaft you may want to take advantage of using it along with a pry bar to gain some leverage on the pull.
