Not sure if the scientific basis for this is accurate. However, I CAN tell you that I gave up soft drinks in March 2014 when I read how many grams of sugar were in a soft drink. I subsequently dropped between 5-10 lbs without any other dietary changes. I DO like sugar, so I substituted club soda, lime and a couple of teaspoons of sugar to quench my thirst (basically a virgin Mojitos :wink: ) on occasion. Most of the time I drink water but there are times, I like that "sweetness". My blood sugar readings dropped and my doctor was pleased as he says I'm diabetic, numbers are around 6.5 and 125-130. I don't take any medication for it. He says if I hit 7.0, I'm going on meds.
All in all, I feel better without the soft drinks, can't say I miss them.
