I had a 2001 F-250 7.3 2WD with 3.73 gears that I bought used in about '05. For the first year I recorded every fill-up and figured up 17.6 mpg overall. During the summer it trended about 1 mpg better, during the winter it was worse. Used mostly for 12 mile trips to work at 55-60 mph with an occasional trailer tow and a few 1000 mile trips. On long, trailer-free trips down non-interstate 65 mph roads it could just hit 20 mpg but I never recorded any tanks better than that. Spinning it up to 75 mph on the interstate made it a lot thirstier but due to that engine's roar at those speeds I rarely drove that fast.

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
