You did not say how many hours it has on it. IF it is over 3500-4000 and you have not been running fuel conditioner you are more than likely needing new injectors. These are electronically fired. They are not very durable. They need the extra lubrication of using a fuel conditioner. I have had to replace several sets of them in JD 6420s with around 3-4K on the hour meter. The fellows that use conditioner regularly are getting 6-7K out of the injectors. Now the real bad news your looking at around $2500-3000 to replace the injectors. You will more than likely need the harness too and that is another few hundred.
The longer you keep running it the more likely you are of burning a hole in piston. When they get bad they blow a straight stream of fuel right down the middle of the piston. I have seen 3-4 have piston failures for this reason.
So by your comment of it being a lemon you either need to fix it or trade it real quick as your running on borrowed time by what your stating on how it runs.
