The Keeweenaw Peninsula in the northern UP has some of the most beauty and interesting things anywhere. Go to Copper Harbor, then take M26 through Eagle Harbor and Eagle river, just north of Eagle river is a monastery with great jams and bread. Eagle River on the beach has the best restaurant in the Upper Peninsula, I think its called Fitzgeralds. Call ahead for reservations. Quincy copper mine in north Hancock is neat and the old historic town of Calumet is interesting. It used to be the biggest town in Michigan at the turn of the century. (1900) Enjoy a pasty while you're in Hancock at the Kaleva cafe or Houghton,at the Suomi cafe, both good. Jims Pizza in Calumet has great pasties, but only on Monday. Get some early before they run out, and don't ask for gravy, natives use only catsup. If you're going through Marquette, stop at the Touch of Finland, on the south side of US41. Your wife will love you for that. Just west of the Cut River bridge on US2 west of St. Ignace is the Cut River Inn, a well kept secret with great Whitefish baskets and a fabulous Whitefish chowder. Lots to do in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
