My 2012 mule had issues idling, especially when you first start it. It started about 30 hrs ago, at 220 hrs it was really bad.
I had an 1985 gl 1200 aspencade efi. Honda's first attempt at computers and fuel injection. The honda shop had no clue how to work on it, so I had to figure out how to fix it by buying a shop manual and reading up. Honda only made it for a few years then returned to carbs in the gl 1500. Returned to fuel injection in the 1800 ccs.
My GL 1200 had 4 throttle plates, 4 injectors. Honda put a 4 small screw by each throttle plate so you could remove screws spray in carb cleaner to remove the gunk around throttle plalte. I had to service mine about every 2-3k.
Well today, I got a can of carb cleaner and used the straw to spray carb cleaner in the throttle plate via the places that hold the temp sensor and a tube from crank case, I put screw drivers in the holds. I also removed the breather tube and sprayed there. It didn't take long before it to idles like it should. That's not to say, tomorrow my issues may return. I also sprayed the breather tube and saw dried gas when I wiped it out.
Hoping this solves my problem. I've read where other mule owners seem to have the same issue around 200 hrs. If you have the same problem, try my fix, hope it works for you.
I think the gator uses the same engine.
BYW. no spark plug issue, no breather issue, no old gas issue. Other than the idling issue, it runs just fine at high speeds. Runs about 2 hrs on a gallon.

As a kid he worked part time on a farm in Kansas doing many of the manual chores. Some of the more successful farmers of that day had a new time saving device called a tractor. It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
