In November 1914 my grandfather bought the farm, literally... Registered with the county clerk's office on November 14, 1914. In 1945, my dad bought the farm, from his siblings on the passing of their parents. We acquired the farm from my parents in about 1980, would have to check the paperwork for exact dates. For our Christmas gift, my daughter did all the paperwork and paid the fees, and submitted application to Michigan Historical Society. April 4th, 2015, we received notification we were approved as a centennial farm. Got the sign from our utility supplier approximately 8 weeks later.
So yesterday, we got all our children, their spouses and their children together for a family celebration - 17 of us. Grilled hot dogs, burgers, brats, potato salad, baked beans, chips, cake and home made ice cream. Grand kids played in wading pool. Several of the adults had a hand in erecting out centennial sign. Had a wonderful day in honor of Frank L and Hattie Adell Petersen, Raymond and Minnette Peterson, and us - Ray and Linda Peterson. And 100 years of ownership of the same farm. (Missing from photo, Jeff Hansen (son-in-law) and his daughter Becky).
