Also the update settings, after you download updates, they are then available for other people to download, so your computer will be using your Internet connection to upload parts of the updates you've gotten to anyone that needs them on the web. This takes some load off of their update servers. But, uses data, bad for those on capped Internet. And this is on by default. Similar to the way "torrents" work.
