after I got out of the USAF and stayed in South Texas (San Antonio area) my neighbor and I would get out on Saturday morning and mow our yards. There was an older window lady that lived next door to him and when we finished our yards we would head on over and take care of hers to.
She didn't have much money and could not pay us and we never asked for anything either. She would always come out and give us a glass of ice water or iced tea and say thank you. At least once per year she would make each of us a homemade Pecan Pie.
At least we know there are those out that that actually appreciate neighbors.
