Didn’t want to hijack another thread, but I went to a consignment auction on Wednesday. I confined myself to the flatbeds loaded with “stuff” and stayed away from the tractor line. Results:
1. Blue rock thrower. Nobody bid. Ringman added a box of 12 new Mopar oil filters, one missing, eleven total. Right Mopar number for my wife’s Chrysler T&C and my Dodge Grand Caravan. Bought all of it for $1.00. Walmart sells the same filters for $6.97 each plus tax.
2. Box with high speed air sander, air cut off tool, misc sanding discs. Bought for $12.00. Later found brand new unopened 3/8” air drill in bottom of box.
3. Chipper for branches up to 2”. Barely used. Bought for $30.00.
4. Box with Ryobi cordless drill, Ryobi cordless 5” skil saw, one Lithium battery (deceased) and two Ryobi 18 volt chargers. Bought for $15.00
5. Box with 1500 watt heat gun and Wards 3/8” corded drill. Bought for $2.00
The eleven new Mopar filters would have totaled $82 and change at Walmart, after tax. They’re used on the popular 3.8 engine, probably others. Maybe no one else recognized them for what they were.
I bought the box of Ryobi stuff ‘cause I needed another charger. I have tools scattered between two buildings right now, and had only one Ryobi 18 volt charger. One of the chargers in the box will charge all Ryobi 18 volt batteries, including Lithium. I counted up this afternoon, and I now have 3 Ryobi cordless drills, 2 skil saws, and one each of recip saw, hand vacuum, and flashlight, all using the same battery. I have 5 good batteries.
It was kinda strange with the box of Ryobi stuff. A guy on the opposite side of the trailer acted like he was going to pee his pants if they didn’t sell it like right now. He kept trying to hand the box to the ringman. I figured he was going to go berserk on bidding. Then when the box sold, he only bid once. I opened for $10, he bid $12.50, I bid $15 and bought it. But, stranger things have happened on auctions.
My total outlay was $63.30. Good thing I stayed away from the tractor line.

Today's Featured Article - Usin Your Implements: Bucket Loader - by Curtis Von Fange. Introduction: Dad was raised during the depression years of the thirties. As a kid he worked part time on a farm in Kansas doing many of the manual chores. Some of the more successful farmers of that day had a new time saving device called a tractor. It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
