Had a nice show this weekend at Blanchard. Nice selection of tractors. Lots of pulling. Threshing demonstration - steam powered with 1890 vintage steam engine. We (our farm) supplied 7 wagon loads of oats for threshing demonstration. Got a good yield 300 bushels of oats, 274 bales of straw (small but heavy, very dense.) Shown here is the threshing demo, Saturday. Randy Lund graciously warmed up the fork and loaded 2 wagon loads into the separator. Thanks, Randy! His side-kick also pictured, is in his 90's. Shows up and wants to prove he can still do it! Son Michael and I got ours in, each doing two loads on Friday. Did a total of three loads Friday, Three Saturday, and one huge one Sunday. Fellow leaning on wheel of steamer, denim shirt is Dave, owner of steamer, guy next to him, in black shirt is Duane, owner of thresher, (and the binder we borrowed to harvest oats.) Young man on steamer is Sawyer, Dave's grandson, already learning the ropes of running a steamer.
