I will go a second or third year between oil changes on a lightly used and shedded gasoline engines like those, longer on filter changes. I check for condensation under the filler cap and also crack the drain plug for condensation and a color check on the oil. If the oil clear I will leave it in the longer time.
A lot of it depends on the condition of the rest of the unit. If the rest of the machine is well maintained, the engine oil should be too. If it has five+ year old antifreeze, a five+ year old hydraulic filter, ten+ year old milky hydraulic oil, and a thick layer of old sludge in the valve cover and crankcase, then changing the engine oil and filter every ten hours could be rather pointless.
