To whom may help guide me, I recently bought an IH 1086 diesel and I love it. Have a few question though. I don't know what year it is. Looked up the serial number and no results. After the U its 013636. 78 or 81year model or other. Also I use it mainly for haying. Well I took the old dog for a little ride tonight cuz hes sick and won't be around much longer, I put the TA on and now its stuck and won't allow me to take it out of the TA off. Also the shifter, High Low SETTINGS, Either Low or high sometimes on its own while driving it will pop out of gear and the shifter will bounce until I put it back in gear. Also when I put it in park in lowest idle once I take my foot off of the clutch I can hear some bad grinding underneath me. Once I hear that grinding I put the clutch in and re do the putting it in park and it's better. Anyone have any idea on what may be up with it? Haying this year has been a year from Hell with breakdowns, but I want to know what may be up so I can get this awesome beast fixed. Thanks. If it helps my e-mail is sheffsaul@yahoo.com.
