We had a origional equipment John Deere battery in a JD 140 garden tractor that lasted 30 years. It was a full sized automotive/tractor type battery, not one of those chinzy toy tractor battery they come with now days. Tactor had an electromagnet clutch, full lighting, and battery/coil ignition. Battery took a beating including being the goto for jump starting other machinery. Tractor was used for all seasons including mowing, tilling, and snow blowing. Battery not babied at all, just held up far beyond it's expected life.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
