Finished the blasted firewood yesterday. the three of us did 16 face cords in 4 days from standing tree to piled in the shed. Tired and sore today. Jeff had a cow trying to freshen with a calf whose head was twisted under the front feet. Her uterus was torsioned about 180 degrees, too. Bet we didn't make much money today! Vet worked over 4 hours on her. The cow is still alive tonight and acting fairly chipper. Pumped 5 gals. of warm water and 5 gals. of alfalfa powder and water into her stomach. She walked the length of the barn even though she has one rear leg that is a bit gimpy. We led her into the bedding shed where she could lay down on plenty of cushioning for that leg. Time will tell.
Jeff never fed the cows or cleaned the barn until after 2pm.
Me? I'm retired, remember? I came home and sat down to watch the playoff games and haven't moved since!
