I came into some synthetic oil at work (hyd.) I changed the old fuild the next day after hearing from you. My goodness what a change! smooth operation, strong lift, Friday I spent six hours on it work in the front feilds. everthing works fine. however I still need to rebuild the control valve, I think the leak is there. any idea where I could get an owners man. for this tractor, I do check at tractor shows, but can only find m. h. "pony" manuals. also what condition is your 50 in? is your paint worn, do you have chrome stickers on your hood. my tractot is

I have heard two stories on the lift staying up after power is off and tend to believe the one that says it should stay up. At the end of the video on MF50 hydraulic repair sold right here at Yesterdays Tractors, the two guys that rebuild the hydraulic system for the tape, take the tractor out and put a boom pole on it. They then hook it up to the back end of a pickup truck and raise the lift. The truck stays on the ground and the front end of the tractor goes up. They shut it off and walk away with the tractor and truck in the background. The front end of the tractor stays up about a foot off the ground. : Your shaking problem may go away if all you have is a piece of dirt in one of the poppet valves and it can work it's way out. You should do as Tom says though, the manual tells you to change that hydraulic oil every 750 hours of operation. You don't know how often it has been changed in the past so change it now. If you need to rebuild the hydraulic system it is not a difficult job but does require two people to take the cover off and to reassemble the pump if you have an older type pump. The MF50 should have the newer pump and one person should be able to handle it, I did. This tractor should give your many more years of good service if you follow the maintenance procedures in the book.
