We split a neighbors 175 because the pto clutch went out. He had just bought the tractor and had brush hogged for a day and a half. The inside of the bell housing was oil covered and upon further examination we find that the short line that goes on the multipower valve is missing so both ports for the line are open. (the multipower lever has been removed and it is in high range). Now he does not want to fix the multipower, but would like to know if it would be OK to plug the 2 ports for the missing line as I think that is where the oil is comming from. I'm not prepared to tell him to plug them because I don't know if it would hurt anything or create undo pressure if they were plugged. I checked the fluid in the tranny & it is now low. Any thoughts on this would be appreciateed. I asked on the Massey forum but didn't get any response in relation to plug or not plug the ports which is what I want. Keith

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
