You are correct that each of us gets to determine which posts we will read and which ones we won't. But right along with that, once we've made a post we can not choose who will reply and what their reply will be. No, I wasn't the last kid picked. I batted and fielded well and was a tough, wirey kid and did well at wrestling in gym class so that I was asked by the coach to join the team - a pretty big honor then - but I declined. Even in grade school I couldn't see the value in getting a ball across an imaginary line so sports were never important to me. I do think sports are good for kids btw. But it was as an adult that I began to see the travesty of a nation where pro sports have carved into our national consciousness to the degree that it is destructive to us all. And yes, I know I'm mostly a voice crying out from the wilderness about it and sometimes it ruffles feathers. I just take Churchill as my hero knowing he too was despised for speaking out about the rising German menace long before the onslaught actually happened. There is a coming price to pay for our national distraction with sports. I just hope I don't live long enough to get to say I told you so.
