I almost had a similar experience with my N that I have now. I had tried to buy the thing for two years, but the owner wouldn't budge off his original asking price. And I really didn't have the money to burn anyway. About two years ago he came in where I work and said he would take $1000 cash "right now", he was tired of messing with it and had bought a new Kubota. OK, I asked if I could look at it (I had never seen it in person, only pictures...). Yep, that's fine, we met, we made the deal, and I was supposed to get it in about a month. No, nothing happened, but I found out he had several offers for more money, but for some reason he honored our deal and I now own the tractor. We were already friends, but that kinda put some glue on the relationship.
