The pipeline would bring down heavy crude to our refineries that we would refine and then markup and sell. Only
American refineries can handle the extreme heavy crude. So it most likely would mean
Cheaper oil and gas for Americans.
Profit for American refineries.
And buying/paying for crude from Canadians instead of terrorists.
There is very little down side to this for America and Canada most anyway you look at it. Most refined petroleum is transported by pipe at least part of the trip. No change. On the input side, it means that input to the refineries would also travel by pipe 1000 miles instead of "on a ship" 3000 miles across the ocean. Should be more energy efficient to get to the refineries also if your a green weenie and save a whale or two in the process. Dont know about you, but I like cheap fuel. Every family in America has save money when the price of fuel is down, real money, every week. Shipping costs are down so everyone in selling is also saving money. Power plants are saving money. Only the oil drillers are NOT saving money as they no longer want to take a risk with cheap fuel around. But everyone is is saving real money NOW!!!! Everyone is happy but external_link and Scrooge.
