George and Sam Barris had a long and successful career, creating history as they went! There are four Barris creations that I guess you could say are my personal favorites. 1- "The Ala Kart", based on a 1929 Ford pickup. 2- "The Kopper Kart", a drastically modified 1956 Chevrolet pickup, but retained the six cylinder engine. 3- "The Golden Sahara", a 1953 Lincoln Capri, which was Jerry Lewis transportation in the movie, "Cinderfella". 4- And then there is the iconic, "Hirohata Merc" a 1951 Mercury coupe originally built for Bob Hirohata in 1953. One of the best known and widely recognized customs ever, and has managed to survive until today. (Or until very recently, anyway.)

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
